Fondly Remembered Stories of my 6th Grade year
In the sixth grade I attended an after school program called Joyful Noise. Me and 3 other kids were the only 6th graders in the program so we basically did what we wanted while we waited at school for our parents to pick us up. Together Me, Khali, Alexandria, and Jasmine went through those times we chilled as a sort of breakfast club-esque group where we talked about music, movies, and our lives. These people were the people I held closest to me at the time considering that even though I had quite a few friends I didn’t have anyone to talk to. About half way through the 6th grade year I developed a crush on Alexandria the lightskinned cute faced girl in my little afterschool group and the more I talked to her the more I liked her after a while she was the reason I would go to the program. One day Alexandria asked me to be her date to the Halloween dance that was being held on October 30th in the school cafeteria. Thing was I really liked her so I went to my older cousin who I looked up to at the time and asked him what to do he told me to “keep her dangling until the last possible moment”. I did just that and told her maybe knowing that I really wanted to say yes but I didn’t want to mess it up. The next day I walked up to her and said “I thought about it last night and I would love to go with you to the dance” and she replied “well its too late you rejected me already so I don’t want to go with you. I was heartbroken and devastated the advice i got to make sure I didn’t mess up completely messed me up. After that moment I was scared to ask her to do anything with me and I regret it to this day. She was my first true heartbreak and I will never forget that.
